MIEO Bot, your local AI tutor

A friendly tutor now sits beside the editor. It teaches, checks your blocks and explains them, all on your own computer.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconmacOS IntelLinux (.deb)

New

  • MIEO Bot, a local AI coding tutor with 125 guided lessons in four levels: Beginner, Explorer, Maker and Pro.
  • MIEO checks your blocks as you build, and when you press Check My Code it tells you exactly what to fix.
  • A full guide to all 283 blocks: drop a block on MIEO, type a question, or pick a block in your code.
  • English + Malayalam explanations for lessons, hints and block guides.
  • MIEO Bot needs no internet and no account, and sends nothing anywhere.

Improved

  • The Mieo board's own Mieo blocks are now drawn in Roby's orange.

Robolab 1.0.10

Bluetooth works with the new firmware

MIEO talks to Robolab over Bluetooth again on the latest firmware, and shows you when it's ready.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconmacOS IntelLinux (.deb)

New

  • A startup lamp: the bottom-left light on MIEO's display glows blue after it switches on, and goes dark once Bluetooth connects or a program is uploaded.
  • A progress ring while a program uploads to MIEO.

Improved

  • MIEO turns Bluetooth on first when it starts up, so it starts reliably and is easy to find.

Fixed

  • Arena mode and Bluetooth uploads work on boards with the MicroPython 1.25 firmware that Robolab 1.0.9 installs. Before, those boards connected but never answered.

Robolab 1.0.9

The new MIEO features, in every installed copy

Installed copies of Robolab now run everything that arrived in 1.0.7.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconmacOS IntelLinux (.deb)

Fixed

  • The new Mieo, Display, Speaker, Robot and Sense blocks appear when you choose Mieo, each with its icon. Installed copies of 1.0.7 and 1.0.8 still showed the old categories.
  • AI extensions such as Face Sense and Object Sense load straight away instead of waiting on “Processing...”.
  • New projects are called “Robolab Project”, and the first-launch message names Robolab.
  • Uploading programs to MIEO works from the installed app.

Robolab 1.0.8

Uploading to MIEO fixed

A quick fix for 1.0.7, which couldn't install firmware on MIEO or upload programs to it.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconmacOS IntelLinux (.deb)

Fixed

  • Upload Firmware and program uploads to MIEO work again.
  • Upload Firmware installs the right MicroPython image for MIEO.
  • If an extension can't start, Robolab now says so and suggests checking camera and microphone permission, instead of showing “Processing...” forever.

Robolab 1.0.7

MIEO comes to Robolab

The big MIEO release: program the Mieo board in blocks, live or uploaded, with a set of new AI extensions.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconmacOS IntelLinux (.deb)

New

  • Mieo as a device of its own, with Mieo, Display, Speaker, Robot and Sense blocks.
  • Arena mode, where programs run live from the computer, next to Upload mode, where they run on MIEO by itself. Choosing Mieo opens in Arena with the Mieo sprite.
  • Blocks for MIEO's pins and its Bluetooth light. Face animations and patterns can play while the rest of the program runs, and have “until done” versions too.
  • Line following, with clearly named speed and left and right sensor thresholds.
  • AI and sensing extensions: Face Sense, Body Sense, Object Sense, Speech Sense, Scan Sense and Vision Sense, plus Weather Sense and IoT Cloud for internet projects.
  • A camera on/off switch in the controls bar.
  • A new Roby app icon, and new projects start with the Roby sprite.

Improved

  • Face Sense has clearer blocks, face recognition training and testing, and outlines you can see over the camera picture.
  • The Mieo categories have their own colours and icons, so they no longer look like Scratch's.

Robolab 1.0.6

Robolab for Intel Macs

Robolab now runs on Macs with Intel processors as well as Apple Silicon.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconmacOS IntelLinux (.deb)

New

  • An installer for Macs with Intel processors.

Improved

  • Installers for every platform are built with up-to-date tools.

Robolab 1.0.5

Download Tools when you want them

Fetch board toolchains from Settings whenever you like.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconLinux (.deb)

New

  • A Download Tools item in Settings.

Improved

  • A new app icon.

Fixed

  • The MIEO Arduino library downloads by itself if the installer didn't include it.

Robolab 1.0.4

Robolab branding on Windows

The Windows installer looks like Robolab, and every installer brings the tools it needs.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconLinux (.deb)

Fixed

  • The Windows installer and its icons use Robolab branding.
  • Installers include the tools and artwork Robolab needs on its first launch.

Robolab 1.0.3

Download links that stay the same

Installer names no longer carry the version number, so a download link always gets the latest Robolab.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconLinux (.deb)

Improved

  • Installer files keep the same name from one version to the next.

Robolab 1.0.2

The MIEO Arduino library, built in

Robolab comes with the MIEO Arduino library.

No installers were published for 1.0.2. Version 1.0.3 replaced it the same day.

New

  • The MIEO Arduino library, which stays in place when board toolchains download.

Improved

  • New app icons.

Robolab 1.0.1

The first public release

Robolab arrives: block coding for robotics and electronics, for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Windows 64-bitWindows 32-bitmacOS Apple SiliconLinux (.deb)

New

  • Block-based programming for Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico and more.
  • Board toolchains download only when you first need them, so the installer stays small.
  • A built-in code editor and serial monitor.
  • Projects save as .rb files.
